Nyanēr'se

Source term: Small "Bullroarer" board

Nyanēr'se: the small bullroarer board. Eemarree: the large sacred board. Yeemeree (also eendeeree): the dark spot in the Milky Way, itself a sacred board.

Two boards, two names. Karreedee and Bindaweeree, speaking for their country around the Weld Range north-west of Cue, called the small board, the bullroarer, Nyanēr'se, and gave the large sacred board a name of its own, Eemarree. A sacred board hung in the sky as well: the dark patch in the Milky Way, they said, was one, and its name was Yeemeree. The owl, they said, was the father of all the Yamaji, the people of that country.
