Source term: bullroarer: mayañg

mayañg (phonetic muyaŋ): bullroarer (Yamfinder, Ndre, Emil Mittag field data)

In Ndre the bullroarer is mayañg, spoken muyaŋ. Ndre, or Dre, is a small Nambu language of the northern Morehead district in south-western Papua New Guinea, among the Yam languages whose speakers live by their yam gardens. Its neighbours share the name: màyang at Keru, meyang among the Nen, moiank among the Keraki, whose roarer first sounded for the wife of the sky-being Kambel until he snatched it from her.
