Two bullroarers from Wantoat entered the Hamburg museum in October 1957, with a small spear from the same valley. Wantoat lies on the southern fall of the Finisterre Mountains, where the Wantoat River runs down to the Markham. Its people speak Wantoat, one of the Finisterre languages, in villages such as Gwabogwat, Mamabam, Matap, Ginonga and Kupung, in dialects that shade into Wapu, Bam, Yagawak and Awara.
