күүгүнэй shares its root with кюкюгюнюр in Dyakonova's Sakha whirrer name-cluster.
A slip of wood became a Sakha children’s whirrer. The blade is 12.5 centimetres long, 2.2 wide, and only four millimetres thick, with its cotton thread still attached. At Zhilinda it was known as күүрт or күүгүнэй.
