Inland at Portole — today Oprtalj, on its hill above the Mirna — the rombo was known too: the usual rectangular tablet, ten centimetres of board, bored at one end for its little cord. Battaglia had the report from a correspondent in the town, one V. Sichich; no local name survived the telling.
