The archaeologist who published it compared it, cautiously and explicitly without committing, to the hera-shaped pendant class, whose origin is traced to the Chinese mainland. It is an island outlier, an imported slab at the far southwestern edge of the distribution — and though its layer is disturbed, the same site has yielded some ten sherds of Korean Neolithic pottery, proof that boats were crossing from the continent in the Early Jōmon.","pull_quote":"","pull_quote_translation":"","pull_quote_cite":"","term_gloss":"","cls":"unknown","class_label":"Function not recorded","color":"#6B7884","is_candidate":true,"flags":[],"f_jade_complex":true,"f_women_taboo":false,"f_women_special":false,"f_snake":false,"f_archaeology":true,"archaeology_kind":"object","date_display":"Undated","date_qualification":"Disturbed layer; phase unknown.","date_basis":"undated","date_confidence":"low","date_citation":"tsukahara_2001_nokubi_fig3, Tsukahara 2001 PDF p. 11 / printed p. 37, fig. 3 item 25","sources":[{"citation":"Tsukahara 2001, 「五島列島出土の石製装身具と異形の磨製石製品」, Fig. 3 item 25","url":"https://saikaikouko.jp/No4/tukahara2001a.pdf","archive":"https://web.archive.org/web/20250912172057/https://saikaikouko.jp/No4/tukahara2001a.pdf"}],"source_citations":"Tsukahara 2001, 「五島列島出土の石製装身具と異形の磨製石製品」, Fig. 3 item 25","source_display":"Tsukahara 2001, 「五島列島出土の石製装身具と異形の磨製石製品」, Fig. 3 item 25","date_citation_display":"Tsukahara 2001 PDF p. 11 / printed p. 37, fig. 3 item 25","object_display":"A thin, vertically long trapezoid of very fine-grained hard sandstone, about 8 cm long, pierced near the narrow top.
